The 23rd death anniversary of Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, former Law Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and a prominent leader of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, was solemnly observed today at his native village in Sogam, Lolab.
A large number of party workers, supporters, and local residents gathered to pay their respects at his graveyard, where special Fateh Khawani was held in his memory. The ceremony was attended by several prominent political leaders and public representatives.
Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Lolab, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, and DDC Sogam, Nasir Nazir Lone, were present on the occasion to offer floral tributes and recall the contributions of the late leader.
Speaking at the gathering, Nasir Aslam Wani paid heartfelt tribute to Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, describing him as a visionary leader who made the ultimate sacrifice for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “This family has sacrificed immensely, losing not just Mushtaq Sahib but also his brother in the service of the people. Their courage and commitment will always be remembered,” Wani said.
MLA Lolab, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, in his address, reiterated the role of the National Conference in defending the rights of the people. “National Conference has always stood by the people and made sacrifices in every era of struggle. Mushtaq Sahib’s martyrdom is a testament to the party’s unwavering commitment to the people of Kashmir,” he said.
The speakers highlighted Mushtaq Ahmad Lone’s contribution to public welfare, law and governance, and remembered his fearless voice during difficult times in the region.
Party workers and attendees reaffirmed their dedication to the ideals for which Mushtaq Ahmad Lone lived and laid down his life. The event concluded with prayers for peace and unity in the region.
