Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Friday came down heavily on PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, saying she has no justification to demand a review of Yasin Malik’s case when, according to him, a member of her own family had identified Malik in a separate case.
Addressing media persons in Srinagar, Lone as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC said, “Suppose the Government of India decides to release Yasin Malik in this case, there are other cases against him. In one of them, he was identified by Mehbooba Ji’s own family member. If she was genuinely sympathetic, such identification would not have happened.”
He also questioned the intent behind Mehbooba’s recent letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. “An affidavit of Yasin Malik is already public in which he has said he will not contest the case. Then at whose request is Mehbooba Ji writing this letter? Did she even take him into confidence before sending it?” Lone asked.
Sajad further accused mainstream parties of double standards. “When they are in power, they are the ones who jail and even hang Kashmiris. Once out of office, they suddenly speak about mercy and human rights. It is important to keep reminding people of their record whenever they make such claims,” Lone said. (KNC)
