Srinagar, February 26:

A massive fire broke out today at the HMT Industrial Area in Srinagar, engulfing a cotton factory and prompting a large-scale emergency response.

A fire call was received at the State Fire Control Room Srinagar, following which Fire Station Mujgund was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a cotton factory fully involved in flames.

Given the magnitude of the incident, additional reinforcements were rushed from Fire Station JVC Veer. Fire & Emergency Headquarters also deployed Water Bowsers and Foam Tenders to strengthen the firefighting operation.

Firefighting teams are actively engaged at the site and are making all-out efforts to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent industrial units.

The operation is being carried out under the overall supervision of Alok Kumar, ADGP Fire & Emergency Services. On-ground monitoring is being conducted by Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain, Deputy Director F&ES, along with Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah.

Further details regarding the cause of the fire and extent of damage are awaited.
