Tributes paid to Ayatollah Khamenei (ra) & Iran’s Martyrs; Party leaders flag governance failures, Chart roadmap for organisational expansion
Srinagar, April 7:
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference convened its Core Committee Meeting on Tuesday at Darul Jawad, Qamarwari, with party Chairman and MLA Sajad Gani Lone presiding over the deliberations.
The meeting was attended by General Secretary Molvi Imran Ansari, Vice President Abid Ansari, Vice President Nazir Laway, Chief Spokesperson Advocate Bashir Dar, State Secretary Abbas Wani, Secretary Organisation Sheikh Imran, Former DDC Chairman Kupwara Irfan Pandithpuri, Mudasir Akbar Shah, Kaneez Fatima, Dr. Bashir Chalkoo and Political Secretary Tasaduq Yaseen. The Youth Wing was represented by Mudasir Karim, President of the Youth JKPC (YJKPC).
The gathering formally commenced with the recitation of Fātiḥa, followed by the offering of floral tributes in honour of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei (ra) and the revered martyrs of Iran.
Thereafter, the Core Committee engaged in extensive deliberations on pressing issues confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir, expressing grave concern over the current government’s failure to address public grievances.
The leadership observed that promises made to the people during elections by National Conference remained unfulfilled while the perils of the common citizen had escalated sharply.
The administration, it was unanimously noted, has remained deliberately indifferent to the ground realities, leaving the masses without recourse and the machinery of governance disconnected from the lives it is meant to serve.”The government has turned its back on the very people it was elected to serve,” the leadership noted.
The esteemed members hailed the recent deliberations of Sajad Lone in the J&K Legislative Assembly, where he fearlessly raised and pursued a wide range of critical issues on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
These include flawed EWS reservation criteria, recruitment irregularities, Kashmir–Jammu imbalances, opacity in the Pro-Elite Land Lease Bill, rejection of forest rights claims, pending regularisation of daily wagers and concerns over public safety, representatives’ security and restoration of statehood.
The committee noted that these interventions have powerfully reflected the aspirations, frustrations and rightful demands of the people and stand as a testament to the party’s unwavering commitment to accountable governance.
On the organisational front, the Core Committee resolved to launch an aggressive grassroots-level membership drive across every district, block and panchayat of Jammu and Kashmir. It was emphasised that strengthening the party’s structure from the ground up is not merely an organisational necessity but a political imperative at this critical juncture.
The leadership called for the appointment of active and dedicated workers at every level, deeper engagement with local communities and a sustained effort to make the party’s presence felt in areas where governance has failed to reach.
The meeting concluded with the Core Committee charting a clear and comprehensive roadmap for future action. The leadership reaffirmed its resolve to hold the government accountable on every issue affecting the people, to pursue justice for the marginalised and to restore the faith of the public in democratic institutions.
