Investigation Establishes No Involvement of Any Other Individual

Budgam, May 26:Budgam Police on Monday disclosed the identity and particulars of the accused arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a minor girl from Galwanpora village after completion of necessary legal and medico-legal formalities.
In an official statement, police said the disclosure of the accused’s identity was withheld during the initial phase of investigation as crucial medico-legal, forensic and evidentiary procedures were underway, and premature disclosure could have affected the legal process.The accused has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, resident of Galwanpora Sebdan, Budgam.
The case pertains to FIR No. 139/2026 registered at Police Station Budgam under Sections 137(1), 103 BNS and relevant provisions of the POCSO Act following the brutal murder of a minor girl, an incident that triggered widespread shock and outrage across Kashmir.Police said the investigation carried out so far has conclusively established that no other individual was involved in the commission of the crime.
According to officials, investigators completed the initial medico-legal, forensic and evidentiary procedures connected with the arrest before making the particulars public. The accused was arrested after sustained investigation and technical analysis conducted by Budgam Police.
The incident had sparked protests and demands for speedy justice from residents and civil society groups, while political and social organisations across Jammu and Kashmir strongly condemned the crime.Budgam Police appealed to the public to maintain peace, communal harmony and public order and urged people not to circulate rumours, speculative content or unverified allegations regarding the case.
Police warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to spread misinformation, incite unrest or disturb law and order through any platform.The police also urged media organisations and social media users to exercise responsibility and restraint while reporting or commenting on the matter, stating that circulation of misleading or unverified content could adversely affect public order and the ongoing legal process.
