Baramulla, May 26:Condolences continued to pour in for the third consecutive day following the demise of the younger sister of senior journalist and Chairman of Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA) Haji Karamat Qayoom, who passed away after a brief illness.

People from different walks of life including journalists, political leaders, lawyers, traders, religious organisations, civil society members and social activists continued to visit the residence of the bereaved family at Ushkura Baramulla to express solidarity and offer condolences.

The Baramulla Working Journalists Association (BWJA), headed by President Gulzar Zargar and General Secretary Umar Rashid, expressed profound grief over the demise. Association members including Dawood Sheikh, Aashiq Mir, Irshad Bhat, Yaqoob Lala, Rizwan Mir, Arawat Mehraj, Fayaz Bukhari, Inayat Sofi, Nisar Malik, Arshid Farooq and Nadeem Wani conveyed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family.

A delegation of BWJA led by President Gulzar Ahmad Zargar visited the family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.Managing Editor of Kashmir Images, Javid Jeelani,on behalf of Kashmir Images family also expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

North Kashmir Journalists Association (NKJA) also condoled the demise and expressed solidarity with senior journalist Karamat Qayoom.

Among those who visited the family to offer condolences were representatives of Markazi Awqaf Islamiya Baramulla, senior advocate Shahid Ali Shah along with his delegation, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Mohammad Rafique Rather, Altaf Malik, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Senior Advocate Abdul Salam Rather, socio-political activist Asif Lone and several political activists, social workers and civil society members.

Meanwhile, Human Aid Society Kashmirconvened a condolence meeting at the organisation’s head office in Dewanbagh Baramulla where executive, general body and volunteer members expressed grief over the demise. Later, a delegation of HASK members visited the bereaved family to offer condolences.

President Beopar Mandal Tariq Ahmad Magloo also expressed deep grief and prayed for Jannat-ul-Firdous for the deceased and patience for the family to bear the irreparable loss.

Representatives of Injuman Urdu Suhaafat including Fayaz Bukhari, Majid Sheeri and also visited the family and expressed sympathies. The Baramulla Bar Association, in its condolence statement, expressed heartfelt condolences with noted journalist Karamat Qayoom and the bereaved family.Condolence gatherings and Fateh Khawani ceremonies continued throughout the day in which special prayers were offered for the departed soul. People prayed that Almighty Allah grants her the highest place in Jannah and gives strength and patience to the bereaved family.“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un.”
