Srinagar, June 13 :

A Junior Assistant has been suspended and attached to the District Programme Office, Baramulla, over the alleged purchase of expired biscuits meant for children at ICDS centres in the Pattan area of North Kashmir.

Sources told SNS KASHMIR that, taking cognizance of reports circulating on social media and allegations regarding the procurement of expired biscuits, Director, Mission Poshan J&K, Sajad Hussain Ganai, ordered the suspension of Junior Assistant Parvaiz Ahmad Rather, who was posted in the CDPO Pattan office.

According to sources, the action was taken following allegations that expired biscuits had been purchased for distribution among children enrolled at ICDS centres.

As per the order, the official has been placed under suspension and attached to the District Programme Office, Baramulla, with immediate effect. He has also been relieved of his present posting to facilitate a further inquiry into the matter.
