New Delhi, June 13th :

The Government of India has appointed Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, currently serving as Vice Chief of Army Staff, as the next Chief of the Army Staff. He will assume charge on June 30 following the retirement of General Upendra Dwivedi.

Commissioned into the Armoured Corps in 1986, Lt Gen Seth has nearly 40 years of military experience and has held several key command and staff appointments, including leadership roles in Jammu and Kashmir, South Western Command and Southern Command.

He has also played a significant role in the Army’s modernisation and strategic planning efforts.
