Srinagar, July 6th :
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has amended the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Scheme guidelines, allowing MLAs to earmark up to ₹20 lakh annually from their CDF allocation to provide medical assistance to patients from BPL families and other notified economically weaker sections.
Under the revised norms, financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh for organ transplantation, ₹2.75 lakh for cancer treatment, and ₹1 lakh for dialysis of chronic kidney disease patients can be sanctioned. Aid will also be available for other government-notified life-threatening diseases.
The assistance will cover only the portion of treatment costs not already met under schemes such as PM-JAY SEHAT, Medical Aid Trust (MAT) and the Cancer Treatment and Management Fund for Poor (CTMFFP). Payments will be made directly to empanelled hospitals to ensure transparency and accountability.
The move is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to economically weaker patients requiring costly medical treatment.
