Jammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) organized various awareness programmes for awareness across Union Territory of J&K.

Like other parts, ACB Srinagar organized seminars at two different places under the aegis of “Vigilance Awareness Week-2022”.

While one seminar was organised at the Conference Hall of District Collectorate Budgam another was organised at newly established Govt. Degree College Hyderpora Srinagar. At Budgam, DC Budgam Syeed Fakhurudin Hamid was the chief guest and SSP Budgam TahirSaleem was the guest of honour. Both the guests addressed the audience.

DC Budgam SyeedFakhurudin Hamid informed the audience about Janbhagidari portal/app. The portal is an initiative to bring transparency in the execution of works by enabling citizens to overview works/projects being implemented in their areas and become a partner in the process of development. He elaborated that information available on this one-stop platform can be utilized for timely feedback/ suggestions for improving expenditure outcomes in spirit of togetherness.

SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem-JKPS spoke on the issues a public servant has to face in case his corrupt practices come in the notice of ACB or other law enforcing agencies. In addition, Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Waheed Shah, AIG Anti-Corruption Bureau Headquarters, ADC, Budgam Dr. Nasir Ali along with some other officers of ACB Srinagar addressed the gathering and spoke on Corruption, its evil impact on society and how it can be checked and eradicated from the society.

Finally Superintendent of Police, ACB Srinagar gave a detailed presentation on the topic aimed at creating awareness among general public in general and the audience in particular.

He elaborated on the ways and means for the general public to approach ACB for institution or registration of complaints. Likewise, at Degree College Hyderpora Srinagar, Principal of the institution; Prof. (Dr.) Ghulam Jeelani was the chief guest.

The chief guest among others adressed the audience. From Anti-Corruption Bureau some officers spoke on the occasion and gave power point presentations on the menace of corruption, its evil impact on society and how it can be eradicated from society.

Ghulam Jeelani, CPO ACB Srinagar spoke on types of corruption cases, convictions and Regular Departmental Inquiries. Reyaz Ahmad, SrPO ACB Srinagar spoke on the role of Departmental Vigilance Officers in combating corruption.

Insp. GhulamNabi, ACB Srinagar spoke on the role and responsibility of general public and how to register a complaint with ACB. Tanveer Ahmad, AEE ACB Srinagar spoke on the role of public in monitoring public works. Finally, Insp. Tanveer Hussain also spoke on the topic.

The speakers in general stressed upon common masses to be eyes and ears of Anti-Corruption bodies and contribute their bit towards making India Corruption free. Contact details of Anti-Corruption Bureau were also shared with the audience for registration of complaints of Corruption. The participants at both the places hailed the efforts of Anti-Corruption Bureau in organizing the seminar and hoped that the initiative will go a long way in creating awareness against corruption among people—(KNO)
