Visits Covid Care Centre at Boniyar; Follow COVID-19 Appropriate Behaviour to Break the Chain, Advisor Appeals Public

BARAMULLA, JULY 02:
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla Aijaz Abdullah Saraaf and other senior concerned officers today tours Boniyar area of Baramulla district where he took inspection of several developmental works in order to get the first hand appraisal of their progress.
At the outset of his visit, the Advisor inspected Receiving Station Nowshera which is under augmentation process from 4MVA to 14 MVA. He was briefed by the concerned authorities that the said project is being executed under PMDP at the project cost of Rs 87 lakh and it shall benefit about 1000 households. The advisor directed to ramp up the pace of work so that it is completed before September end.
The Advisor also visited 105 MW Lower Jhelum Hydroelectric Project where he emphasized to expedite the work on modernization of the power house. He directed the PDD authorities to work towards the up-gradation of basic infrastructure in power sector and to speed up work on replacement of rotten electric poles and up-gradation of HT/LT transmission lines for which the material already stands procured.
The Advisor further took inspection of various developmental works under taken in Rural Development sector during which he was appraised by ACD Baramulla, Gulzar Ahmad Khan about the pace and position of these works. The ACD informed that under 14th FCA, out of 1409 works 433 works have been completed in 5 CD blocks viz Uri, Noorkhah, Parenpeela , Bijhama and Boniyar.
The Advisor issued strict directions to adhere to the timeline of completion and said that more emphasis should be laid on labour intensive works which may prove beneficial in the current circumstances. He also directed to make timely payments of MGNREGA as it is related with the livelihood of rural labours.
Advisor Baseer Khan also inspected a Panchayat Level COVID Care Centre (CCC) where he took review of various related aspects. He appealed the people to adopt COVID-19 appropriate behaviour in letter and spirit adding that the pandemic has not faded away completely and there is a need to follow SOPs for breaking the chain of virus.
Advisor Baseer Khan visited the Eco-park also where he directed the officers to have strong focus on renovation and beautification of pathway, park and also replacement of dysfunctional lights. He said that the commissioner Secretary shall depute a team to make a report for beautification and development of parks.
Later, the Advisor met a delegation of PRIs who appraised him about their grievances and demands pertaining to developmental concerns.
The PRIs demanded the establishment of a fire service station in the area, posting of SDM in Uri Sub-division, up-gradation of PHC Boniyar to SDH Boniyar, establishment of Tehsil Complex and extended several other demands of vital public significance.The Advisor gave a patient hearing to all the issues and demands and said that all the issues shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redress.
Advisor Baseer Ahmad Khan directed all concerned officers associated with Covid duty, especially doctors to make people aware of the importance of vaccination and dispel the rumours spread by rumour mongers attempting to vitiate the Covid Containment measures. He directed the officers to ensure people participate in the vaccination drives once they are given to understand the benefits of vaccination. He said the vaccination drive should be focused to achieve 100 percent coverage of people above 45 year old and impetus to rope in people between 18 to 44 year old should be accelerated.
Joint Director Planning, SE KPDCL CMO, CEO, Chief Animal Husbandry Officers, Engineers and heads of various departments among other concerned functionaries were present on the occasion.
At the conclusion, the Advisor launched a plantation drive by planting a sapling in the lawn of Govt Higher Secondary School Boniyar. The programme for launching the drive was organized by the concerned Forest department.
