Baramulla:Amid biting cold and heavy snowfall, doctors in GMC Baramulla continued their retuine work and operation theatre functioned smoothly.

The operation theatres of GMC Baramulla remained functional and a total of 28 major surgeries took place in different specialties from 10 am to 4 pm, a statement issued here said. Other surgeries planned later in the day are planned to go ahead as usual too, it added.

“This was all possible due to the valiant efforts put behind the scenes of worthy principal Dr. Prof Ruby Rishi and Medical Superintendent Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi. Thanks to their efforts, the power supply, as well as the heating facilities in the hospital, continue to work as normal,’the statement issued further said.

According to a report filed by Mr. Mohammad Hussain Geelani, in charge of Operation Theatres GMC Baramulla – 5 Orthopaedic surgeries, 6 general surgeries, 6 OB-GYN, 5 ENT, and 6 ophthalmology surgeries took place all day.

Further, according to hospital statistics, a total of 701 patients in IPD, OPD as well as emergency were attended today. A department-wise breakdown reads as follows – No. of IPD Patients: 25 No. of Patients in Casualty: 52 No. of Patients who visited OPD: 624 General Medicine: 187General Surgery: 36 Orthopedics: 69Gynae & Obst.: 86 Pediatries: 38Psychiatry: 43Opthalmology: 49PMR: 03Ayush: 07ENT: 38Dental: 41Dermatology: 30, the statement informed.
