New Delhi/Srinagar, July 19 :

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reviewed the flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district by speaking separately with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah following heavy overnight rainfall that triggered flash floods and widespread damage in the region.

During the conversations, the Home Minister received a detailed briefing on the prevailing situation, including the extent of damage caused by incessant rains, the ongoing rescue operations, and relief measures being undertaken by the administration in the affected areas.

Amit Shah assured both the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister that the Central Government stands firmly with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will extend every possible assistance to support rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. He emphasized that all necessary help would be provided to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of those affected by the floods.

Officials said the administration has intensified rescue and relief operations as heavy rainfall led to flash floods and caused significant damage in several parts of Rajouri district. Emergency response teams have been deployed, while authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and provide assistance to affected residents.

The administration has urged people living in vulnerable and low-lying areas to remain vigilant, follow official advisories, and cooperate with rescue agencies as efforts continue to safeguard lives and restore normalcy.(KNC)
