As part of Public outreach programme, Thana Diwas; an initiative of Government of J&K, was organized by Police in district Baramulla.
The Programme at Police Station Sheeri was chaired by Sh. Sajad Hussain-JKPS, DySP Hqrs Baramulla* alongwith Inspr. Waseem Jahangir and other staff of Police Station Sheeri, at Police Post Delina the programme was chaired by Inspr. Showkat Ahmad SHO PS Baramulla/ ASI Manzoor Ahmad, IC PP Delina and other staff of Police Station Baramulla/ Police Post Delina,
Similarly, the Programme at Police Station Uri/ Bijhama/ Boniyar was chaired by Sh. Junaid Wali-JKPS, SDPO Uri alongwith Inspr. Imtiyaz Ahmad, SHO PS Uri/ Inspr. Mohd Ashraf, SHO PS Boniyar/ Inspr. Irshad Ahmad, SHO PS Bijhama and other staff of Police Station Uri/ Boniyar/ Bijhama.
The programme at Police Station Kunzer was chaired by Sh. Hilal Khaliq-JKPS, SDPO Tangmarg alongwith Inspr. Nisar Ahmad, SHO PS Kunzer and other staff of Police Station Kunzer and at Police Station Tangmarg/ Police Post Babareshi was chaired by Sh. Aumer Iqbal-JKPS, DySP PC Kunzer alongwith Inspr. Shahnawaz Ahmad, SHO PS Tangmarg/ ASI Manzoor Ahmad, IC PP Babareshi and other staff of Police Station Tangmarg/ Police Post Babareshi
The programme at Police Post Mirgund/ Wussan was chaired by Sh. Mohammad Nawaz- JKPS, SDPO Pattan alongwith SI Ather Parvaiz, IC PP Mirgund, SI Nazir Ahmad, IC PP Wussan and other staff of Police Post Mirgund/ Wussan.
The programme at Police Station Kreeri/ Police Post Wagoora was chaired by Inspr. Arif Ahmad, SHO PS Kreeri, ASI Mohd Akbar, IC PP Wagoora* and other staff of Police Station Kreeri/ Police Post Wagoora.
The meeting was attended by the respectable citizens of surrounding areas of Police Station Sheeri/ Uri/ Bijhama/ Boniyar/ Tangmarg/ Kunzer/ Kreeri/ Police Post Delina/ Babareshi/ Mirgund/ Wagoora & Wussan including respectable Citizens, members of Auqaf Committees, Numberdars, Chowkidars and Traders Federation.
On the occasion, participants highlighted various issues of public importance, and they were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and that of civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal. While speaking on the occasion, it was reiterated that policing at grassroot level in the district would be revamped to enhance proficiencies of the cops and to develop confidence among the people.
Chairing officers while speaking on the occasion, said that Thana Diwas is an initiative started by the Government of J&K to bridge the gap between Police and Public and also to hear and redress the grievances of common masses and further added that Community policing is mandatory to boost public confidence which would help in fighting against crime and social evils.
Referring to the criminal activities in the area, it was stressed upon the officers to brace up with a missionary spirit to fight against drug abuse and eradicate other social evils from the society and to take a pledge to serve the society with missionary spirit and maintain the dignity of force.
The participants were stressed to co-operate with Baramulla Police in maintaining Law and order in the area and identifying anti national and anti social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment.
The event was concluded with the vote of thanks from both sides.
