Speaker warns protesting MLAs of strict action amid continued sloganeering

BJP and Congress legislators were marshalled out of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday amid continued uproar and sloganeering during the debate on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s resolution seeking restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa, MLA Arvind Gupta along with Congress MLAs Irfan Hafiz Lone and Iftikhar Ahmad, were marshalled out of the House as the ruckus continued during the proceedings.
The Speaker warned the protesting members of strict action and directed all legislators to maintain discipline and decorum in the House. “Maintain discipline or face tough action,” the Speaker warned amid continued sloganeering and protests by the members.
The disruptions came as BJP legislators protested references to autonomy and the pre-1953 position in the statehood resolution, while Congress members also raised slogans and displayed banners during the proceedings.
The House witnessed repeated disruptions as the debate continued.—(KNO)
