Srinagar, July 17 :

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir President and Member of Parliament Sat Sharma (CA), along with Leader of Opposition and MLA Sunil Sharma, on Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting in Srinagar to assess the preparations for the party’s proposed Secretariat Gherao March, scheduled to be held on July 20, 2026.

The meeting, held at Church Lane, Srinagar, was attended by BJP State office bearers, District Presidents, Prabharis, Morcha Presidents and senior party leaders. Discussions focused on organisational arrangements, coordination among party units, mobilisation of workers and logistical preparations to ensure the peaceful and disciplined conduct of the proposed protest march.

According to party leaders, the Secretariat Gherao March will commence from Ghanta Ghar, Lal Chowk, and proceed towards the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar, as a peaceful democratic protest aimed at highlighting public concerns over alleged corruption, arbitrary governance, and policies affecting the interests of youth and democratic institutions.

During the meeting, BJP leaders discussed the agenda of the protest in detail and reiterated the party’s commitment to demanding strict action against corruption, along with greater transparency and accountability in governance.

The leadership also expressed concern over the delay in strengthening and operationalising Panchayati Raj Institutions, stressing that grassroots democracy must be empowered without further delay to ensure effective public participation in governance.

Addressing the meeting, senior leaders emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline and ensuring that the protest remains peaceful while effectively conveying the concerns of the people.

Among those present were BJP General Secretary Anwar Khan, Secretaries Arif Raja and Mudasir Wani, State Office Bearers Sartaj Majeed, Sajad Raina, Advocate Sajid Yousuf Shah and Bilal Parray, State Spokespersons Altaf Thakur, Sahil Bashir, Manzoor Bhat and Danish Bhat, besides District Prabharis, District Presidents and other senior party functionaries.

The review meeting concluded with party leaders expressing confidence that the proposed march would be conducted in an organised, peaceful and democratic manner, with participation from party workers across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNC)
