Former Chief Office Superintendent convicted for taking bribe to clear bill; fined ₹25,000

A CBI Court in Jaipur has sentenced a former Chief Office Superintendent of Western Central Railways to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case, officials said.

In a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, CBI Court Jaipur, on 04.04.2026, convicted and sentenced Jalandhar Yogi, the then Chief Office Superintendent (CoS), Office of AEN, Western Central Railways, Gangapur City, Distt. Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, to Rigorous Imprisonment for Five Years with a Fine of Rs. 25,000 in a bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 16.06.2020. It was alleged that the accused, Jalandhar Yogi, demanded a bribe of Rs. 11,500 for clearing the pending final bill for work done.

The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting Rs. 10,000 as bribe from the complainant. The bribe amount was recovered from the possession of the accused, it reads.

After investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on 08.01.2021 against the accused, it reads.

The Hon’ble Court, after trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly. (KNC)
