Shopian, Jan 27: Authorities on Friday said that more than 343 kanals of State/ Kahcharai land was retrieved from encroachers during anti-encroachment drives in south Kashmir’s district in Shopian.

The land retrieved from illegal encroachment includes 25 kanals, 12 marlas at village Zainapora of Tehsil Zainapora, 55 kanals, 23 marlas at village Nagisharan in Tehsil Hermain, 43 Kanals, 3 marlas in village Berthipora Tehsil Keller, 85 Kanals in village Chittragam Tehsil Chittragam, 28 Kanals in village Vedapora Tehsil Keegam, 12 Marlas in village Hergam Tehsil Shopian and 105 Kanals, 5 marlas in village Mahandpora Tehsil Barbugh of the district.

“During these anti-encroachment drives, commercial structures and land illegally occupied by influential persons including Ex. Minister was also demolished and land reclaimed,” officials said in a statement to SNS Kashmir .

“The drives were conducted under the supervision of Tehsildars of respective Tehsils,” it said, adding, “These drives shall continue till the entire encroached land is retrieved from the encroachers.”
