BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY,27:

The Core Group of Baramulla Working Journalists Association convened an essential meeting to deliberate on the upcoming elections for the positions of President and General Secretary of the Association. Chaired by Chairman Haji Karamat Qayoom, the meeting engaged in comprehensive discussions regarding the electoral process and future representation within the association.

During the meeting, it was unanimously decided to dissolve the current elected bodies of the Association. Consequently, all powers have been entrusted to the Chairman until the new President and General Secretary elections are elected.

The election commission has been given signal to issue the official notification for conducting the elections.

If weather conditions permit, the elections are scheduled to take place before the holy month of Ramadan. Furthermore, proactive measures will be taken to engage with ousted members prior to the elections, with the aim of fostering a unified and robust representation of journalists in Baramulla.

It was also resolved that Tehsil Units of Baramulla Working Journalist Association will have fixed representative votes in the elections for the positions of President and General Secretary of BWJA, ensuring equitable representation across all units.

The Core Group reiterates its commitment to upholding the principles of transparency and democracy throughout the electoral process, thereby ensuring the fair and inclusive representation of journalists in Baramulla.
