Unified Portal and Mobile App Offer Legal Aid, Case Tracking, Laws, Court Information and AI-Based Assistance

In a significant step towards strengthening citizen-centric digital governance and improving access to legal services, Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo, on Tuesday launched the ‘e-Nyaya Sarathi’ web portal and mobile application, designed to provide citizens with a single digital platform for accessing legal information, judicial resources and government legal services.
The newly launched platform has been developed by the Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs with the objective of bringing a wide range of legal services and resources under one roof. It enables citizens to access important legal information and services digitally, reducing the need for repeated physical visits to government offices and other institutions.
The launch event was attended by senior officers, including ACS PWD; Principal Secretary, Home; Principal Secretary, Culture Department; Registrar General, High Court of J&K and Ladakh; Senior Additional Advocate General Mohsin Qadri; Member Secretary, J&K State Legal Services Authority; Commissioner Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department; Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare; Commissioner Secretary, Science & Technology; Commissioner Secretary, Law; Secretary, Rural Development Department; Secretary, Legislative Assembly, besides officers of the Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs and members of the technical development team.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo said that the initiative represents an important move towards making government services more accessible, transparent and responsive to the needs of citizens.
He emphasised the importance of ensuring that legal services are simple, reliable and easily accessible, particularly for people who may face difficulties in navigating conventional legal and administrative processes.
The Chief Secretary said that the e-Nyaya Sarathi platform would help strengthen the interface between citizens and legal institutions by making essential legal resources available through digital devices.
Giving details of the newly launched platform, Commissioner Secretary, Law, Achal Sethi, said that e-Nyaya Sarathi has been designed as a comprehensive digital gateway providing access to multiple legal services.
The platform includes facilities for legal aid and pro-bono assistance, besides a central repository containing Acts, Rules, Judgments and Government Notifications. It also provides dedicated services such as ‘Search Your Case’ and ‘Find My Court’, enabling users to obtain relevant information more conveniently.
The platform further incorporates dedicated modules relating to Women & Child Development and Advocate Related Matters, providing users with access to information and services in these areas through a unified interface.
A key feature of e-Nyaya Sarathi is its AI-powered chatbot, which has been incorporated to assist users in navigating the platform and obtaining guidance regarding available legal resources and services. The technology-enabled facility is intended to make access to legal information faster and more user-friendly.
Officials said that the integrated digital framework is aimed at simplifying citizens’ interaction with the legal system while improving transparency and accessibility in the delivery of legal services.
The e-Nyaya Sarathi portal is available at www.enyayasarathi.jk.gov.in, while its mobile application can be downloaded through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
The initiative is expected to provide citizens with convenient digital access to legal information and services, while further strengthening the government’s efforts towards transparent, accessible and technology-driven public service delivery.(KNC)
