Srinagar, May 22:
In a significant development, the Cyber Police Station Srinagar has arrested Dr. Abdul Waseem alias Bari, a terminated professor hailing from Kulgam and presently residing in Natipora, along with Asifa Bashir, a resident of Chattabal, for their alleged involvement in uploading and circulating objectionable content on social media platforms.

The arrests have been made in connection with FIR No. 06/2025, registered under Sections 67 and 67-A of the Information Technology Act, as well as Sections 75(3), 79, and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Sources from Cyber Police confirmed that the content shared by the accused was not only objectionable in nature but also had the potential to incite public unrest and violate the privacy of individuals.

Following the arrests, Dr. Abdul Waseem has been handed over to Police Station Shergari for further legal proceedings, while Asifa Bashir has been sent to the Women’s Police Station Rambagh for detailed investigation.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to acting firmly against misuse of digital platforms and urged the public to report any such activities that violate the law or endanger communal harmony.
