A joint delegation of traders, transporters, Bar Association members, and civil society representatives met Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, on Wednesday to discuss pressing town issues. Led by Traders Federation President Er. Tariq Ahmad Mughloo, the delegation submitted a memorandum outlining their concerns.
Key demands included establishing car parking at the Cooperative Bank’s vacant land, repairing the Old Town road from Azad Ganj to Drangbal, fixing the National Highway stretch from Saint Joseph School to Khanpora, and designating a separate zone for street vendors. The delegation also raised concerns about the defunct CT scan at GMC Baramulla and the inclusion of the old PHC hospital roster under GMC Baramulla’s jurisdiction.
DC Minga Sherpa assured swift action, directing the GM of Cooperative Bank and the Principal of GMC Baramulla to expedite resolutions. He also promised that road repair and renovation would be prioritized and completed within two months. The delegation thanked the DC for his commitment to resolving the town’s grievances.
