DGP J&K visits his home,pays respect, shares grief with family

Jammu, February 15:

The Director General of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh, and all ranks of Jammu & Kashmir Police have condoled and expressed grief over the sad demise of Shri M.M Khajooria DGP (Retd) who breathed his last today.

DGP has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and relatives of the deceased officer on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Pariwar and prayed for the departed soul.

The DGP J&K has said that the departed officer will be remembered for his services to the people and to the department.

Shri Khajooria was the 2nd DGP of Jammu and Kashmir from 16-01-1985 to 25-05-1986

DGP visited his home paid respects and shared grief of the bereaved family members.

Shri M.M. Khajooria ,son of the soil,was born on 11th of June 1931.He grew up to be a dynamic student leader and spearheaded number of movements,one of them being agitation for free education upto postgraduate level in the J&K. He joined the police service of the then J&K State in the year 1954 and was the first police officer in J&K to be inducted into the Indian Police Service. He was an outstanding police officer who held various sensitive posts and was the first director general of J&K police from Jammu.He also had the distinction of being the first police officer to serve as the Special Commissioner in the aftermath of the Poonch agitation.After retirement from police service,he took up public service and did a lot of work to educate the masses especially on terrorist related issues and was a security analyst and a well-known TV and media personality . He passed away on 15th of June 2023 after brief illness. He is survived by three daughters and sons-in -laws, 6 grandchildren and a great grand daughter .
