Srinagar, Dec 11:

Just minutes after the Supreme Court upheld the removal of Article 370, Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed disappointment but stated that the struggle would continue.

The former Chief Minister of J&K in a post on X said that “Disappointed but not disheartened. The struggle will continue. It took the BJP decades to reach here. We are also prepared for the long haul. #WeShallOvercome #Article370”.

Notably, the Supreme Court upheld the President’s order allowing the Union to amend Article 370 without the recommendation of the Constituent Assembly and stated that the state was not needed to be consulted in this matter.

Delivering the landmark judgement, the 5-judge bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud held that exercise of presidential power to issue constitutional order abrogating Article 370 of Constitution as valid.(KNS)
