DC Anantnag Dr Basharat Qayoom issued ex gratia relief of Rs 50 thousand each to the families of victims who lost their lives in a tragic incident at Daksum.

In addition to the ex gratia relief, other items of need including blankets and kitchen utensils were also provided to the families. It is pertinent to mention that the relief has been issued within 24 hours of the incident coming to light.

In the reported incident, during the intervening night of 17/18 September, a mud house situated in Mather Patheri Daksum collapsed. Among the inhabitants, three people namely Hajira w/o Hussain Gorsi aged 55 years, Manzoor Gorsi s/o Mohd Abdullah aged 40 years and Asif Gorsi s/o Manzoor Gorsi aged 16 years, all residents of Bidhard, lost their lives in the collapse. A fourth person, Shakeena d/o Hussain Gorsi aged 12 years is safe and is with her family.

DC Anantnag said that immediately after reports regarding the incident were received, a team of revenue and police officials was deputed to the spot.

He said that relief has been disbursed to the NoKs of victims and officials have been directed to provide all necessary assistance.
