Pulwama, Oct 23 :

Special Judge Anti-Corruption Pulwama, Dr. Noor Mohammad Mir, on Thursday convicted a former Junior Engineer of the Rural Development Department for tampering with his service book and date of birth.

The case originated from FIR No. 24/2000, registered by the Vigilance Organisation Kashmir (now ACB) against the said Junior Engineer for manipulating official records to extend his service tenure.

After a 25-year-long trial, the court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years of imprisonment along with a fine of ₹3,52,760 as Fine to compete the Loss Suffered by Govt.

The conviction was made under Sections 420, 467, 471 of the RPC and Section 5 & 2 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. (CNS)
