Srinagar, May 11 :

The Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of Geology and Mining has attached District Mineral Officer (DMO) Ganderbal, Sh. Murtaza Bashir Bhat (Chemist), to the CMT Laboratory Budgam pending inquiry into his conduct and alleged non-performance.

According to an official order issued by Director Geology and Mining, J&K, Pawan Kumar Sharma, JKAS, the action was taken after several complaints were received from the general public and various government executing agencies regarding the officer’s poor performance and alleged failure to curb illegal mining activities in district Ganderbal.

The order stated that during the visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister and other dignitaries to Ganderbal on May 10 for inspection of developmental works, the concerned officer was found absent from the official engagements despite being informed in advance to remain present with the Director Geology and Mining at all locations.

It further said that the officer was again telephonically instructed to accompany the visiting dignitaries but failed to comply with the directions.

Pending inquiry, the officer has been attached to the CMT Laboratory Budgam and has been directed not to leave the station without prior permission from the competent authority.

Meanwhile, the department has assigned Sh. Gh. Nabi Pintoo (GG-III), District Mineral Officer Bandipora, to look after the routine work of the District Mineral Office Ganderbal in addition to his own duties until further orders.(KNC)
