BARAMULLA, AUGUST ,18 :

Non-gazetted employees of GMC Baramulla have launched an indefinite peaceful protest demanding the framing of recruitment rules, which have remained pending for the past seven years.

Employees said that during their previous protest, the administration had assured them that the recruitment rules would be finalized within three months. However, the promised deadline passed without the rules being framed.

This time, the employees say the protest will continue until a senior authority from the administration or Health Department, including the Health Secretary, takes responsibility and gives a concrete assurance on the matter.

Employees allege that the delay in framing recruitment rules has prevented fresh recruitment in the newly established medical colleges, resulting in nearly 50% staff shortages in several institutions.

They say the shortage is putting additional pressure on existing employees and is ultimately affecting patient care and hospital services.
