JAMMU, NOVEMBER 04 :

The Jammu and Kashmir government will soon hand over 122 acres of land to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the construction of a new modern 25,000 square meter terminal at Jammu.

Official sources told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that Airports Authority Of India (AAI) will be given 122 acres of land by the Jammu and Kashmir government to build a new 25,000 square meter terminal building at the airport in Jammu.

They said the commissioner of the department, Jammu, Raghav Langer reported on the development during a meeting to review progress in the demarcation of the land boundary for the new station.

“Already 122 acres or 974 canals of land have been identified,” officials said, adding that it will soon be handed over to AAI for the construction of the station.

They said that the runway at Jammu Airport has been expanded and the 30 per cent payload penalty has been removed and it will bring great relief to airlines and passengers.

“The commissioner of the division also directed the Animal Husbandry Department to immediately move its animals and office buildings to other locations as more than 100 acres of their land were identified for the expansion of Jammu Airport,” they said

They said that deputy commissioner Jammu was asked to demarcate the land and hand it over to the airport authorities for work to commence.

The officials said that the deputy commissioner informed that the land in Nagrota has already been allocated to the Animal Husbandry Department for the transfer of offices and poultry.

“The commissioner of the department also reviewed the alignment of the Delhi-Katra Expressway from Satwari to the Fourth Bridge. The highway from Delhi to Katra via Kunjwani and Satwari Chowk to Bhagwati Nagar 4th Bridge will be built to connect it with the Jammu-Akhnoor Road project,” official sources said. (KNS)
