Srinagar, October 29 :

Former chief minister J&K, Omar Abdullah on Friday questioned “If situation in Kashmir valley is normal, they why did Pandits run away from valley”.

“Government is telling lies about prevailing situation. If situation is normal in valley, why did Pandits run away from Kashmir”, Omar questioned.

He said the houses of minority community members are closed. “Due to fear the doors of their houses are shut. They have left valley and moved to outside parts”, he said.

He also said there were many government employees of the community who were brought back to valley under PM Package but “unfortunately they too abandoned their homes today amid current unfavourable circumstances”, he said.

While castigating governments at both Central and UT level, the former CM said they have taken the lives of Kashmiri Pandits otherwise and are beating drums only about tourism footfall. “The government is telling lies. They are beating drums about tourism footfall. Only 15 to 18 lakh tourists visited this year which was normal”, he said.

He added till the government does not accept the real issue the situation will not come back to normalcy. “The government should accept the reality first. They should engage youth and try to bring them to mainstream. If our support is needed in bringing the situation normal, we will not hesitate to contribute”, Omar added.(KNS)
