Handwara, Jan 1 :

Major internal equipment of a 100 KV electric transformer, installed for a filtration plant, was found missing on Sunday morning in Budbugh Ashpora in Handwara.

Reports reaching GNS said that few locals saw the transformer lying on the ground and without the internal apparatus, following which they informed officials of PHE and PDD.

Sarpanch Budbugh Abdul Raheem told GNS that the transformer is meant for the filtration plant in the area. “It (transformer) was installed some three years before but it has remained non-functional ever since as the filtration plant has not started as of now”, the village head said. “We don’t have much information how it all happened as the (filtration) plant is one kilometer away from human habitation”, he said.

When contacted, Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering M Najeeb Ahmad told GNS that they have taken cognizance of the incident. “A case has been registered in this regard against the unknown person(s) involved in the theft”, Ahmad said. (GNS)
