Jammu, December,30 :

Abdul Qayoom Wani, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), has called upon the Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, to personally intervene in resolving several pressing issues affecting the education sector.

Wani expressed concern over the persistent delay in making textbooks available to students by the J&K Board of School Education (BOSE). He emphasized that this delay has been a major hindrance to the academic progress of students and called for urgent measures to ensure timely distribution of study materials.wani said Bose authorities are habitual of Delay in text book distribution despite this issues was raised by civil society many times in past.Wani said that the students are the future of our society and nobody will be allowed to play with their future.Wani said Bose needs academicians and experts from the education department to run this prestigious institution not administrators.Past practice of running this institution by academicians needs to be restored at an earliest.

The Chairman also raised the issue of teachers being engaged in various duties during winter vacations, including admission and examination-related assignments, without being assured of leave salary. Unlike other employees who enjoy leave salary in the winter, these teachers are denied similar benefits despite their critical contributions. This discriminatory treatment has left many teachers demoralized.

Furthermore, Wani highlighted the injustice faced by teachers who are assigned winter tutorial duties and training without being paid any wages or offered proper leave assurances. “It is deeply unfair to burden teachers with additional responsibilities during harsh winter months without providing them with due compensation or job security,” he stated.

A delegation of affected teachers recently met with the Chairman to express their grievances, describing these policies as inequitable and detrimental to the morale of the teaching community.

Wani urged the Education Minister to take these issues seriously and ensure that the rights and welfare of teachers and students are safeguarded. “Teachers are the backbone of our education system, and their well-being must be prioritized. These long-standing issues need immediate redressal,” he added.

The JKCSF Chairman called for swift action to foster fairness and equity in the education sector, emphasizing the need for policies that recognize and reward the dedication of teachers.
