Nation Salutes Heroes of Operation Vijay; Prime Minister Says Courage, Sacrifice and Patriotism of Armed Forces Will Continue to Inspire Generations

New Delhi, July 26:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, saying their unmatched valour under the most challenging circumstances will forever remain a source of national pride and inspiration for generations to come.

In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister expressed the nation’s deep gratitude to the soldiers who displayed extraordinary courage and unwavering commitment while defending India’s sovereignty during the 1999 Kargil War.

“On Kargil Vijay Diwas, we express our heartfelt gratitude to our brave soldiers. Their valour in the face of the most formidable conditions will forever remain a source of national pride. Their unwavering patriotism and devotion to duty will continue to inspire generations,” the Prime Minister said.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to commemorate India’s historic victory in Operation Vijay, when the Indian Armed Forces successfully recaptured strategic mountain positions in the Kargil sector after infiltrators occupied them in 1999. The day honours the supreme sacrifice, courage and determination of the soldiers who defended the nation’s territorial integrity against all odds.

Across the country, tributes were paid to the martyrs through wreath-laying ceremonies, commemorative events and patriotic programmes, as citizens remembered the sacrifices made by the bravehearts who laid down their lives in service of the nation.

The Prime Minister’s message reaffirmed the nation’s enduring respect for the Armed Forces and underscored that the legacy of the Kargil heroes continues to strengthen India’s resolve, unity and commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty.(KNC)
