IGP says both militants were involved in killings of two non-local labourers from Bihar on Oct 17 at Wanpoh

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 20 :

Two militants including an LeT commander, who were involved in the killing of two non-local labourers on October 17 have been killed in a brief gunfight in Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said here on Wednesday.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that LeT district commander of Kulgam, Gulzar Ahmad Reshi was among two militants who were killed in the brief exchange of fire in Devsar today evening.

He said that both the militants were involved in the killing of two non-local labourers from Bihar on October 17 in Wanpoh area.

Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police while quoting IGP Kashmir on its official Twitter handle said that Police and Army neutralised LeT district commander (Gulzar Ahmd Reshi) of Kulgam and one other, who were involved in killings of two poor labourers from Bihar on October 17 at Wanpoh

Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 9 RR and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. (KNS)
