Vehicle registration, driving license of negligent will be cancelled

To put a rein on rash and negligent driving, the authorities are going to launch intense drive against offenders in coming days in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir valley, an official said on Monday.

“In coming days an intense drive will be carried out against those indulge in rash and negligent driving”, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari told media persons here.

He said it is unfortunate that youngsters resort to such agonizing behavior while driving which however should not have been in place. “Apart from complaints pouring in from public quarters, we personally observe that in city parts like Baghat, Rajbagh and other areas the young generation drive their motor cycles or cars in such a way that risks the lives of common people. This behavior of our young generation needs to be sensitized so that lives of pedestrians are saved,” RTO Kashmir said.

“I appeal to my youngsters to drive in a safe way and request their parents to control their kids”, the RTO Kashmir said.

He said from quite some time it has been observed that many lives have been lost due to rash driving and in this regard the RTO Kashmir will launch an intense drive in coming days to put a rein on this insane behavior.

He also said those found involved in rash driving, would be dealt strictly as per law. “Whosoever will be found involved in rash and negligent driving, their vehicle registration as well as driving licenses will be cancelled,” he said.

About awareness drives, the officer said we are doing our part in making people aware about traffic rules, however media has an effective role in it.

Terming eve teasing a “social malice”, the RTO Kashmir said we did our job yesterday while cancelling the registration of a scooty used by two young men who resorted to abusive comments against a girl in Dalgate Srinagar. “If they had a driving license, we would have cancelled that too”, he added.
