Asking officers to ensure only bona fide media professionals are recognised and engaged by government departments.

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER,03 :

In a high-level meeting yesterday in Srinagar, the LG instructed Deputy Commissioners and SSPs to identify and act against those misusing the name of journalism. He also called for a verified database of accredited and active journalists in every district, with departments told to deal only with media personnel cleared by the DIPR.

Sinha further directed that online portals, Facebook pages, and social media handles claiming to be media outlets must be registered and verified by the DIPR. The move follows growing complaints about individuals misusing media identity for personal gain.

“The government values genuine journalism but action against those tarnishing its image is inevitable,” an official said.
