SRINAGAR, JULY 5 :

Locals have spotted a leopard in their Colony near Srinagar Airport and are requesting authorities to take measures to capture it before it causes harm to anyone.

A group of locals from Highland Enclave Gogoo near Srinagar Airport told news agency Kashmir News Trust that since last week, a leopard is emerging in the area especially during night hours. The presence of leopard has created fear psychosis among people who are unable to venture out from their homes.

They said people are even scared of visiting mosques to offer prayers during evening and pre-dawn hours. The locals appealed Wild Life Department to take measures to curb the movement of the leopard.

Altaf Dentoo, Wild Life Warden Central told KNT that they receive calls on routine basis from multiple areas but from Highland Enclave Gogoo the Control Room didn’t receive any call. “Let me check, we will send a team to ascertain the facts,” he said. (KNT)
