Srinagar 12 Sep :

An unidentified militant and one Army man was killed in an encounter in the Rajouri district’s Narla area, said ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh on Tuesday evening.

ADGP Jammu said that the gunfight started on Tuesday late afternoon after a search operation was carried out by the Army and Police in one of the areas of Narla’s village based on the inputs regarding the presence of militants there.

It was said around two-three miltants were trapped at the encounter site. The gunfight ensued after the holed up militants fired upon the searching parties when the latter’s request to ultras for surrender was not heeded, the Police Office said.

As the encounter flared in the area, more forces were sent to the spot in order to support the engaging personnel and strengthen the security layers around the operation site.

However, in the early stage of the gunfight one unidentified militant and an Army man was killed. In the operation, three other personnel including one SPO received bullet injuries and were immediately evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

It is pertinent to mention that this is the second encounter in the Jammu division this month after one broke out in Reasi district in the first week of September.
