Srinagar, Oct 31:
Senior National Conference leader Mubarak Gul today said he will break his silence over developments within the party at a press conference scheduled for November 4, amid questions over the party leadership’s decision to retain Ali Mohammad Sagar as General Secretary.
Gul told the nees agency Kashmir News Trust that he had maintained silence so far but would reveal everything about what is happening inside the National Conference when he addresses the media on November 4.
His remarks came in response to a question about why Sagar had again been asked to continue as the party’s General Secretary, despite his appointment to the post earlier this week.
On October 27, NC president Farooq Abdullah appointed Gul as General Secretary after Sagar was inducted into the Omar Abdullah-led Council of Ministers. However, on October 30, the party issued a fresh order directing Sagar to continue in the organizational post until further orders, raising questions about the status of Gul’s appointment.
The developments have unfolded amid discontent within the ruling party following the recent Cabinet expansion, in which several senior legislators were left out.
Gul’s proposed press conference on November 4 is expected to provide further clarity on his position and his concerns over the party’s internal affairs. [KNT]
