Sets asides election scheduled on Sept 10, imposes Rs 1 lakh fine on Ladakh admin

Srinagar, Sept 06 :

Holding that National Conference is entitled to the symbol of “plough”, the Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside election for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil and directed administration to issue fresh notification for the polls within seven days.

As per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Supreme Court today set aside the election for Hill Council Kargil scheduled on September 10 and directed UT’s administration to issue a fresh notification for the electoral exercise within seven days.

The SC held that National Conference is entitled to the symbol of “plough” for the election. It also imposed a penalty of Rs one lakh on Ladakh administration for filing the plea—(KNO)
