In a crucial meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bandipora, party President Syed Sajad emphasized the need for workers and leaders to work with seriousness and confidence to achieve the party’s goals. He reaffirmed that the movement established by the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed must be carried forward to its ultimate objective, asserting that the party would continue its journey with the same dedication.
The meeting extensively discussed the party’s performance in the recent assembly elections, the restructuring and strengthening of the party framework, as well as upcoming Panchayat and local body elections. The session was attended by key leaders, including Syed Tajamul Islam, in-charge of the Bandipora constituency, Tahir Qadri, in-charge of Sonawari, and representatives from the Gurez constituency, along with former district president Mohammad Abdullah Wani and other prominent leaders.
After the meeting, Syed Tajamul Islam spoke to the media, highlighting the discussions on the party’s performance in the recent assembly elections. He mentioned that the meeting focused on addressing shortcomings and developing a course of action to strengthen the party. He also expressed gratitude to the voters who supported the PDP during challenging times.
Syed Tajamul further stated that Syed Sajad urged all constituency in-charges to strengthen their respective areas and submit a list of local party office-bearers to ensure the party’s solid ground-level presence. This list will be presented to the party’s high command for final approval. He also emphasized that workers should remain prepared for upcoming municipal and Panchayat elections.
Syed Tajamul reiterated that the PDP remains firmly committed to prioritizing public welfare. He emphasized the party’s vision of providing dignified employment, a respectful life, and peace to the people, as opposed to fear and repression. He also made it clear that the PDP remains steadfast in its position on self-rule and principles, with no compromise on these values.
Additionally, Syed Sajad instructed that conventions be organized for youth, women, tribal communities, and marginalized groups to further solidify the party’s foundation.
