‘Country Unable to Hear Talented MPs’: PM Calls for Smooth and Meaningful Functioning of Houses

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the repeated disruptions in Parliament, saying frequent disturbances are preventing the country from hearing the views, ideas and contributions of newly elected Members of Parliament.
The Prime Minister made the remarks during a breakfast meeting with more than 40 MPs from NDA constituent parties at his residence in New Delhi on Friday.
Modi stressed the importance of ensuring the smooth functioning of Parliament, saying elected representatives have a responsibility to raise issues concerning the people and participate constructively in debates and discussions.
According to MPs who attended the meeting, the Prime Minister said continued protests and disruptions were depriving Parliament of the opportunity to hear the views of talented and new MPs. He emphasised that matters of public and national importance should receive proper discussion on the floor of the House.
The meeting was attended by representatives of several NDA constituent parties, including the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), Shiv Sena, Republican Party of India (Athawale), Rashtriya Lok Morcha, AIADMK and UPPL.
Among those present were Union Minister and RPI (Athawale) chief Ramdas Athawale, Rashtriya Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha, AIADMK leader M. Thambi Durai and UPPL chief Pramod Boro. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and BJP president Nitin Nabin also attended the interaction.
The Prime Minister also discussed development in West Bengal and the northeastern region, with MPs saying he urged NDA partners to work collectively towards accelerating development and addressing issues concerning the people of these regions.
NCPI MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said Modi described NDA partners as members of “one family” and conveyed a message of collective effort and development.
During the interaction, the Prime Minister also encouraged MPs to pay attention to their health and well-being. He asked them about their participation in yoga and regular health check-ups.
Modi’s remarks came amid continued disruptions in Parliament, with Opposition protests repeatedly affecting proceedings in both Houses. On Friday, proceedings were again disrupted amid protests over issues including the NEET examination controversy and allegations concerning donations linked to the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
The Prime Minister’s emphasis on the effective functioning of Parliament underlines the Government’s call for debate, discussion and uninterrupted legislative business, enabling MPs to raise matters of national and public importance and contribute meaningfully to parliamentary proceedings.(KNC)
