Sopore, Aug 9 :

Police launched a massive crackdown on a Jamaat-e-Islami-linked network across Sopore on Sunday, with simultaneous searches being conducted at 26 locations in the town and adjoining areas.

Officials told GNS that the operation is being carried out by J&K Police with assistance from CRPF as part of an ongoing investigation into a UAPA case registered against the banned organisation Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). The searches are aimed at gathering evidence and identifying links of the network.

Further details regarding seizures and questioning are awaited as the operation is still underway.(GNS)
