Locals hail admin, army’s timely intervention

Kupwara January 15 :
In a nightlong operation, local authorities with the assistance of Army airlifted a pregnant from snowbound Tangdhar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a pregnant woman was admitted to sub district hospital Tangdar in the evening, however, she developed serious complications and needed to be shifted for advanced treatment.
He said following directions from deputy commissioner Kupwara, Dr Sagar a chopper was arranged for the lady to be airlifted from snowbound Tanghdar to mainland Kupwara.
He said, however, due to bad weather conditions, the evacuation turned painstaking as chopper couldn’t make landing, but due efforts of army and officials of district administration Kupwara, the operation continued and today morning she was airlifted to Kupwara.
Dr Farooq Qureshi BMO Tangdar Tangdar said that we received a call from Cheterkote Karnah regarding the critical condition of an expectant mother and in prompt response patient was immediately lifted to SDH Tangdar in 102 Ambulance, from where she was kept under observation till the chopper was arranged,
Thanks to Indian Army for donating Blood which helped me to make the Patient stable till now and my Dictors, paramedical staff who worked tirelessly to save the patient, Special thanks to DC Kupwara for taking up the matter with Indian Air Force, he said.
From Kupwara, the woman has been shifted to Lal Ded hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment, he added.
“During the evacuation process, SDM Karnah, BMO Tangadar, Army Commender 104 Shakti Vijay Brigade, Tehsildar Karnah and several other officers were present,” he said.
Meanwhile, the family members and locals hailed the efforts and timely intervention of district administration Kupwara and army for airlifting the lady.
Snow bound Tangadar remains cut off from rest of the district due to recent snowfall in the area. KNS)
