Baramulla, May 21:

A massive protest erupted today in Chak Kanispora as residents and members of the local Masjid committee blocked the National Highway, alleging that a group from the same locality has stalled the construction and religious activities

Protesters claimed they have been unable to offer regular prayers (Nimaz) or conduct other religious functions in the Masjid due to internal opposition, prompting today’s agitation. “We were forced to take this step as the administration has failed to resolve the issue for years,” said a protester. “We appeal to the district administration to look into this genuine and serious matter so that we can resume prayers in our Masjid.”

the Hon’ble High Court today again stayed the ongoing construction work at the disputed Masjid site

MLA Irfan Hafeez Lone, ADC Baramulla, Tehsildar Baramulla, and the DO of the concerned police station reached the protest site and assured the agitating residents that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and necessary action taken.

Following the assurance, the protesters dispersed peacefully. However, they warned that if their demands are not addressed, they will resume protests and again block the National Highway.
