Baramulla: A devastating fire engulfed Fashion Square, a popular readymade garments shop at Sheeri main market in Baramulla district on Sunday evening reducing garments and other goods worth lakhs to ashes.

Eyewitnesses said they saw huge flames and smoke erupted from readymade shop Fashion Square owned by Syed Fayaz Bukhari son of Abdul Ahad Bukhari of Zamzampora Zandarfan.

They tried to control the fire but the fire quickly spiraled out of control, consuming readymade garments worth lakhs along with other merchandise.”The locals trie douse the flames and broke shutters and glass panes of the shop but fire went out of control due to which readymade garments worth mo lakhs and other goods were reduced to ashes,” they added.

The swift response of the Barmaulla fire service station, supplemented by teams from the Sheeri police station and Army’s 46 RR, averted further escalation.

Their coordinated efforts prevented the fire from spreading to adjacent shops within the shopping complex near Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch Sheeri.

The proprietor has suffered huge losses and he lost his sole source of income to fire. The cause of fire is stated to be short circuit. Police station Sheeri has registered a case and started further investigation.
