Baramulla: Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari on Saturday visted his home town Baramulla to have a frank and free interaction with transporters here.

RTO Kashmir Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari who was flanked by ARTO Kupwara and other officials said that problems and issues of transporters would be resolved on priority basis and public transport services must explore new ways to woo passengers.

Reply to a query regarding headless ARTO office Sopore, Bukhari said that department is on it and very soon both Sopore and Kupwara would have separate ARTOs so that transporters and common people won’t suffer at any level.

He further said that no vehicle without permit would be hired by any department or institutions for which directions have been passed to ARTO to look into the matter.He informed that bus and sumo services on all routes in Baramulla would be ensured so that pessangers won’t face any problems and the routes have already been integrated to “streamline” the minibus service.

For Hajiabal village, RTO Kashmir said after detailed inspection of road by the team of expert inspectors, the road was not found feasible for mini bus service, however, Sumo service has been dedicated for the village till widening of road takes place.”

All vehicles without permit would be seized and concern officials have been instructed to intensify their drive against violators,” Bukhari further said. A detailed discussion was held with stakeholders from minibus associations and Sumo stand owners for streamlining the traffic.
