Baramulla: After several burglaries in old town Baramulla, burglars struck again looted at least four shops in fish market Baramulla on intervening night Sunday and decamped with cash and valuable items. The shopkeepers at Baramulla said that despite night vigil by police, burglars barraged into four shops and stole cash and other valuable items worth lakhs of rupees.“There have been scores of incidents of robbery in old town Baramulla since a couple of weeks in which robbers bragged into residential houses and looted huge amounts of money and other valuables including jewelry,” said a victim shopkeeper at a fish market.They shopkeepers added they have approached police and district administration and demanded swift investigation into the thefts.“Mostly traders take loans from banks and purchase goods from wholesalers due to which they remain under a debit trap. Police administration should gear up and provide security to our property,’ they added.They expressed gratitude to SHO Baramulla for visiting the spot and assured investigation into the robberies. Police have confirmed that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
