‘Will seize the two-wheelers of riders not wearing helmets’
Srinagar 08 August :
RTO Kashmir Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari on Tuesday said that the two-wheelers of those riders would be seized who are riding without helmets.
The RTO Kashmir said they have observed a lot of people throwing caution to the wind in Srinagar by not wearing helmets and contravening the rules, which are important for their safety. “Therefore from the last few days we have identified some spots where the youth are predominantly seen like coaching centers and others and tried to educate them about the rules. It was a drive to educate them about the driving and riding rules and we also suspended the license of those found in grave violation,” he said.
To stem rash riding and violation of rules, RTO Kashmir warned that the two-wheelers of those persons would be impounded who are not wearing helmets.
Bukhari said the two-wheeler riders should always put on a helmet, which is important as per the law for the pillion riders as well. “I am requesting the parents as well to not allow their children to ride two-wheelers without the possession of license, helmet and other requisite documents…,” said RTO Kashmir.
He reiterated that the parents should pay heed whether their children are wearing the helmets or not to avoid any untoward incident.
Regarding the bike stunts, Bukhari said that it has been contained to a very extent and its results are visible on ground after steps taken by them and the SSP Traffic city, who counseled stunters regarding the fallout of stunts.
