NEW DELHI, Apr 16:

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of two seasoned judicial officers Sanjay Parihar and Shahzad Azeem as Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

“The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on 16th April, 2025 has approved the proposal for appointment of the following Judicial Officers, as Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh: (i) (ii) Shri Sanjay Parihar, and Shri Shahzad Azeem”

Mr Sanjay Parihar: Judge Sanjay Parihar was Born on December 19, 1968, in Horna Palmar, Kishtwar, Shri Parihar commenced his judicial career on December 1, 1997. Over the years, he has held several pivotal positions, including serving as the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Jammu. Notably, he was appointed as the Special Judge for Anti-Corruption (CBI Cases) in Jammu, where he presided over high-profile cases, such as the rejection of bail for an individual accused under the Official Secrets Act . His extensive experience and commitment to justice have been instrumental in upholding the rule of law in the region.

Mr Shahzad Azeem: Shri Azeem entered the judicial service on August 5, 2011, and has since demonstrated exemplary dedication. He has served as the Director of the J&K Judicial Academy and, more recently, as the Registrar General of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh . In his administrative capacities, Shri Azeem has played a crucial role in implementing judicial reforms and ensuring the efficient functioning of the court system.
